Gold-Silver Tracks Steer Nanovehicles Along Defined Paths

All-atom molecular dynamics simulations examined how gold tracks embedded in cylindrical silver substrates could guide the diffusive motion of C60, flexible-chassis nanocars, and rigid-chassis nanotrucks across temperatures from 75 K to 600 K. The results show that chassis flexibility, track width, and temperature jointly determine how effectively these molecular machines maintain directed motion.
