Magnetic nanocomposites could help shrink the components that power computer chips |
|
When you think about making computer chips better, you probably think about transistors. My colleagues and I focused on a less visible part of the problem: the components that deliver power to those transistors. A chip needs ... |

Programmable Hydrogel-Nanocapsule System Improves Cartilage Repair in Osteoarthritis Models
Researchers developed hydro/nano-bFGF, a two-stage delivery system that combines an enzyme-responsive, cartilage-adhesive hydrogel with bFGF-loaded nanocapsules to improve drug retention, cartilage penetration, and growth factor release near chondrocytes. In human osteoarthritic cartilage explants and rodent models, the system improved matrix regeneration, cartilage structure, and joint function, while long-term safety and clinical effectiveness remain to be determined in future studies. 11/03/2026

Researchers created iSOD, a superoxide dismutase-templated ultrasmall iron oxide nanozyme that combines antioxidant activity with MRI contrast for liver fibrosis. In rat models, iSOD reduced collagen deposition and produced fibrosis-associated MRI signal differences, although larger studies and quantitative imaging validation are still needed. 11/03/2026

Anti-CD44 Nanoplatform Targets Glioblastoma Cells With Dual Ferroptosis and Photothermal Therapy
Researchers developed a carboxymethyl cellulose-based immunonanosystem containing cobalt-substituted magnetite nanoparticles and anti-CD44 antibodies to target glioblastoma cells through enzyodynamic ferroptosis and photothermal therapy. In 2D cell cultures and 3D gliomaspheres, the system showed preferential activity against CD44-expressing glioblastoma cells, supporting further preclinical studies of its safety, delivery, and therapeutic performance. 10/30/2026
